This must have been the most difficult illustration I made yet. I'm not totally happy with it, especially the inkwork. It was a rush, for one. And two, I had problems with the paper. I had used a consumer level sketchbook paper for it. Normally I use sketchbook paper and it's no problem. But this paper has little strands embedded in it that got caught in my pen and dragged ink across, making little blobs. I think I will have to go back to the dollar-store sketch paper I've used in the past.

I really enjoy the stylistic atmosphere of this illustration. It's different and interesting. It's slightly realistic, but has that feel to it that makes it not realistic at all.
I think it works effectively as a children's illustration book.
